Latest Interview With DLTA

We'd like to introduce you to upcoming artist DLTA and what better way to get to know him than to have an exclusive interview.

1. Tell us about yourself and your music?
I grew up in Orange County, California and recently graduated from college. I always had an affinity for music; I started playing guitar when I was 6 years old and started writing music and playing gigs with my band in high school. As I got older, I began to gravitate towards house music and found myself incorporating all the music skills I developed as a kid into my electronic music. I think the music I write speaks to who I am as a person in that it has a light, carefree vibe.

2. How would you describe your sound?
My sound is an upbeat, summery take on house music. I find myself mixing the vibe of tropical house music with deep house style pluck synths, all while maintaining the energy of progressive house.  I really like to focus on a catchy and happy vocal line and expand from there.  I try to create something unique, yet relatable at the same time.  Something that sticks in your head, but you’re not sure why.  That’s what I would want to hear going out after a day in the sun on the waves.
3. Talk about the experience making your single?

Interestingly enough, I set out to make a remix to Tiesto's "Show Me" track. I started writing the chords and lead lines on a grand piano and eventually moved into Logic Pro X to start the production aspect. I really wanted a simple, happy, and upbeat sound created by pluck synths to go with the beautiful lyrics. After a while, I felt the Tiesto lyrics weren't what I wanted and found that I could bring the track to life with my own lyrics and vocal line. From there, my good friend and cowriter, Evan Devries, and I worked on creating the final vocals. Another friend, Tyra, laid down the angelic vocals that really took the track to its full potential.

4. What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
Currently I have a ton of unfinished projects; I am working on a few deeper, less pop-oriented tracks and I am working on two more pop tracks that are similar to "Calling Out." I may release an EP soon. Right now, I play gigs around the Orange County and Los Angeles area, but I am hoping to expand my horizon with the release of "Calling Out."
5.  What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
The biggest highlight of my career so far has been receiving record contracts with House Music With Love and PRMD Music. While I found that it is difficult working with labels across the world (I'm in California and the labels are in Sweden), releasing on a label has a dream of mine since I was a child. A close second would be opening for one of my biggest influences, Louis the Child, at two shows in LA.
6. Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)?
My ideal collaboration would be with EDX. I need to find out his secret to making deep house pluck synths. He does it better than anybody in the industry and consistently produces relaxed, yet energetic, deep house anthems. A close second is trap producer NGHTMRE. His creativity is stunning and I'd love to see his creative process in person.
7. Name something random that people do not know about you?

I play a lot of golf. I was even a starting player on my college golf team all four years.

8.  What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
I've learned that you need to find a balance of listening to advice and suggestions from others and staying true to your own artistic vision.
9. What can we expect from you in the future?
After the release of "Calling Out," I will definitely ramp up my live shows and travel outside of the local LA and OC area. I hope to release all of my current projects and start some collaborations with artists in different genres. Most importantly, I want to keep releasing music that people can identify with and that makes people smile, dance, and feel like they are dancing the night away by the beach.
